16:15 -
hitherto unbeknownst to me, there is a picture of me at my graduation ceremony. when he wasn't making faces at us, husband was apparently taking pictures from the floor... i circled me, somewhat obscured by some guy. also featured, sitting next to me in the cute yellow dress, is liz. fabulous, eh?
16:06 - fingers crossed... i just got a call from express, the temp agency with which i signed on yesterday, saying i might have a job for two weeks or so starting tomorrow. hurrah for employment!

16:27 - How evil are you?
16:27 - i'm still alive. and job-scavenging. please tell me if you're quitting your job, i'll go apply for it...

18:48 - moving's a pain.
especially when you're a book-buying freak.
at least i've got until the end of the month, so i can take it a box or two at a time...

10:12 - i have pictures! mostly from my birthday and the honors graduation. a few added on to the end here too. maybe one day i'll get around to flipping those that are currently sideways and adding labels, but don't count on it anytime soon...

12:55 - as pointed out to me by a certain eye-witness, cookeville made the front page of the tennessean yesterday, once again demonstrating this town's propensity for the bizarre. this time, we're accused of making our youth salute the confederate flag. and for what it's worth, i'm told that ms. anderson's statement that no student complained is false... to be fair, this complaint may have been registered after press time, but it's far more entertaining to at least pretend to expose a cover-up...

15:13 - i'm alive. i'm even a college graduate. just not so frequently internet-connected.

14:22 - i'm unduly amused.
i was scanning infotrac for inspiration on how colette turned the world upside down -- reversal of sexual roles and all that jazz -- when i came across an article taken from new statesman.
it describes her as "raising two fingers to the moral and literary establishments of her time." while colette was french and thus far more likely to either flip off those establishments or perhaps give them the bras d'honneur, the phrase "raise two fingers" struck me as rather classy. and so british.
and since i so seldom have an excuse to illustrate the obscene gestures of the world, here, my friends, is what i mean by the bras d'honneur:

12:44 - will it ever stop raining?
i have an umbrella today, though, so all angst is more french take-home-final-inflicted than weather-related. but the weather's still icky and depressing and certainly not helping matters.

18:15 - happy cinco de maio! i bought some sangria-flavored soda yesterday to celebrate.

16:53 - mom tells me that babe, the good old dog whom i named after paul bunyon's blue ox after she showed up at my elementary school playground and induced much pleading to bring her home with us, is nearing the end. sad... but for memory's sake, here's a picture of us both when we were somewhat younger and better-looking:

16:22 - doonesbury's great today. am i an elitist snob for enjoying the fact that i didn't need to look up the translation?

16:14 - i'm 23 now. doesn't feel much different, really, just sounds older when i have to mention it. i threw myself a bit of a party friday night... i enjoyed it, anyway, and i hope everyone else did too. and i'm sorry if you were one of the people who unwillingly got dragged into my photos (hi liz!), but i love you all and will need your images on my walls next year for homesickness relief, decoration, and story illustration. i think the zoo is still cleaner than it was before we pre-party cleaned it, so i thank all who came for being excellent, civilized sorts of people!

14:37 - oh yeah, and happy may day everybody.
14:32 - tomorrow's special. it's not only my birthday, it's no pants day! anybody have a top hat? Why Would you Dress Like Abe Lincoln?
Although dressing up like Abe Lincoln IS funny, you seem to have missed the point entirely. I mean, honestly, why would you dress up like Abe Lincoln on No Pants Day?
